Emma Wilson is the winner of the UK Blues Awards 2022 “Emerging Artist of the Year” category.
She released 2 EPs in 2020 which respectively reached No1 & No2 in the UK Independent Blues Broadcasters 'Top 40 Most played' charts as well as being played on
“The Blues Show with Cerys Matthews” on BBC Radio 2, UK and international airplay and excellent press decribing Emma as : “The most exciting and extraordinary singer to appear on the scene for many years, the best voice to come out of Teesside since David Coverdale”
Emma's new release “Wish Her Well” is her much anticipated studio album and is now the #1 Album on the Roots Music Report as of June 2022.
DJs and journalists have clamoured to get copies to play and review.
The album is currently No3 in the IBBA Top 40 and has spent 6 weeks in the 'Hit Top Tracks 100' chart been played on dozens of indie stations, Jazz FM & Internationally and crossing over to the Rock, Americana & Soul stations.
The album is 10 original songs, Emma describes them as love songs but not in the traditional sense. The lyrics deal with love, death, lust, rejection, empowerment and simple painful heartbreak .The music on the record arcs over Blues, Northern Soul, Rock & Gospel, Emma's influences being Ann Peebles, Aretha, Mavis Staples, Little Feat, Robert Cray, The Faces.... However this is Emma's own record, she has created a body of work referencing her influences brilliantly and maintaining her own unique sound.
Emma achieved this by bringing together the cream of the UKs musicians Mat Hector(Drummer, also with Iggy Pop Band) Mark Neary (Bass, who works with Noel Gallagher) and Adam Chetwood (Mark Ronsons 'go to' guitarist and Imelda May's touring band)
The album was recorded at Jackdaw Studios, Kent in a traditional “Live“ setting which has created a rich beautiful band feel with Emma's truly sensational voice being the main feature.
Mastered by Barry Grint (Air Studios, London)
Emma is nominated in 2 categories at the "UK Blues Awards 2023 - "Vocalist of the Year" and "Album of the Year" for 'Wish Her Well'
Emma visited the USA in January 2023, spent some time writing with multi ASCAP award winning songwriter Gary Burr in Nashville and visited her distribution company 'Select O Hits' in Memphis where she recorded a podcast for the 'Live from the Warehouse' series, it will be available on the 'Select O Hits' You Tube Channel in March '23.
